The supreme court has made it against the law to sell M rated games to minors, this is old news by now. What isn't old news is that the supreme court has passed a bill nullifying that law, minors in the California state can now buy M rated games. The reasons this bill passed is due to our 1st amendment rights, freedom of speech.
Hopefully more state legislators pass this bill so that minors can buy M rated games. Only reason I am for this movement is because I myself used to play M rated games when I was a child, I turned out to be fine. I was more mature for my age, I understood the difference between fantasy and reality. parents should also monitor what their child is doing, so that they themselves could grow to be better parents rather then, labels and rating babysit their children.
Here is the more simple 3D Taiwanese version of all this hoopla.
It's good they got this turned over, it was a really stupid law.
ReplyDeleteThe way I see it, it's all up to the parents. They are responsible for their children, and as such, have the final decision regarding what they allow their children to be exposed to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with @The Dawg, that's the parent's job to check what kind of games they want for their children.
ReplyDeleteBut this is bullshit anyway, I was playing stuff like Duke Nukem 3D or Doom when I was really young, and I think that any normal kid know the difference between video games and reality.
Hell yeah. Games are just games. I think the modern video gamer is more aware of the differences between games and reality than the average outsider. I'm glad the supreme court views this as freedom of speech.
ReplyDeleteI think that not only games have an influence on bad behavior of kids
ReplyDeletejust wanted to wish you a happy 4th! :)
ReplyDeleteYou said it, its the parents responsibility to raise their child properly.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it matter kids are gonna play violent games no matter what lol "). Nice post!
